Are these colors tacky?

Brittani, on January 4, 2024 at 10:55 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 26
Hey everyone! I'm planning my wedding for 2025, haven't nailed down a date yet but thinking either spring or fall. The band on my engagement ring is turquoise so I wanted to include that color in the colors. In playing around with colors this is what I came up. Turquoise, burgandy/wine and gold. Ideas?

I think those colors look pretty together. However, I’d suggest you pick a venue prior to picking a color scheme because you want to make sure your colors go with the venue rather than work against them. So like, floor or wall color in the venue may impact how well those colors go in that particular space.

Cool and unique color combo! I love that your ring inspired it.

We aren't going to be using a venue as we are going to be using our neighbors land. They have alot of beautiful property that they are going to allow us to use. Alot of fields and trees. I'm thinking we're going to do a field wedding

Thank you! I'm glad that others like it! I was second guessing myself. It was actually my fiances idea to have some turquoise to match the ring. I'm thinking wine/gold as the main colors and then turquoise to add pop?

Creative fiancé! It’s hard to find mood boards with those colors but I bet it’ll look nice. This might be close…

That turquoise is a little too saturated to me, maybe go with a more sea glass/robin's egg color? It would still match your ring beautifully without fighting too hard for attention. Also, maybe have a light neutral (cream, perhaps?) as a base so that the colors pop more

Found the shade of blue I was trying to describe in my previous comment! It's the color of the blue bottles here:

It would also probably be really nice with the field wedding aesthetic! (gives off jane austen energy). And it's a pretty versatile color and it's fairly easy to find wedding stuff in that color

Yeah! If you just looked up sea glass blue, you might be able to find things that you really like. It might be a little more difficult than for the other colors, but you don't need a whole lot make a statement

You can also have AI design a vision board for you with this color scheme and then prompt it with “in a field” etc. It helped to design my vision!

I would put in something like “a wedding in a field with turquoise, gold, and burgundy colors” and see what comes up

Turquoise is my favorite color so I think it’s a great choice! ☺️ I would probably tweak the turquoise to a lighter blue or a dusty blue or maybe a darker teal color to go with the burgundy though.

I actually love this color scheme, especially if you are going to have your wedding in the fall and/or the southwest. Now, all of these are bold shades (nothing wrong with that), but when you don't have neutral elements or patterns to balance these colors, it can be a bit chaotic.

Adobe, rust, taupe, sage green, deep teal, some shades of blue, a muted purple, or even a rich, royal purple, and even some shades of muted yellow or ivory (think wheat, or lighter shades of wood) could bring it all together. I may bombard you with pictures on this thread, so, my apologies in advance.

I personally did a southwestern theme for my summer wedding.
I had sage green, teal, copper, gold, tan, as the main colors, with flowers ranging from light pink, light orange, cornflower, and small pops of yellow. (You can see the cake if you look at Ambrosia Cakes Tucson and see the C&E cake)

I do think that if you keep all three of these colors, the turquoise should be more minimal, with little pops here and there. A deeper teal or navy blue would tie everything together and make it sophisticated and versatile. If you are having your wedding in the spring, I would say to switch the burgundy our for a shade of pink or orange. If you like more burgundy shades, burgundy can be the rich, sophisticated, "moody" color even in a spring time wedding when paired with pale pinks, ivory, and green. It might be a little challenging to incorporate turquoise if this were the case.

The photo of the cacti and of the luminarias (lighted pathway paper lanterns) are more as a "mood board".
