Just Said Yes April 2020

April 18,2020 wedding

Needing some advice please...Unfortunately we are going to have to cancel/postpone our wedding, but I am having a hard time with when to reschedule. With everything happening and changing everyday, I don’t know what to do. We are having an outdoor wedding, and we live in Arizona. If we postpone our wedding for a few months (July, August, September) it will be WAY too hot outside, but on the other hand winter months are also very cold (we are having our reception in a desert nation park) and I hate the winter. Is postponing a wedding for next year too long? Or should I suck it up and have it during the winter months? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If it were me I want to have the same wedding I envisioned before the postponement and wouldn’t hesitate to postpone a year so I could still have it the time of year that I wanted. Unless I had some reason I needed to get married right away it’s disappointing but I don’t want to compromise my vision because of a pandemic. Good luck with your decision I’m sure you’ll make the right one no matter what for you

I'm really sorry your going through this. I'd say wait until next year if you're comfortable with waiting that long. We've been engaged for 2 full years and the thought of having to wait another year is very frustrating. If you've planned for a nice spring wedding I'd say wait for it. Mainly because I'm not sure how fast your caterer, cake baker, florist, etc. can turn everything around for you. They probably have those fall brides already booked I just know I personally wouldn't want a rushed wedding. This is really a sad time, I hope you get the wedding you planned so hard for even if you have to wait some!

    Hey date twin!
I totally get your feeling! In Chicago this summer months are also very hot. But we didn’t want to wait another year. We chose August as our date. What about September or October? Little cooler months!

If you can find and be happy with a date that is a year out, I would absolutely shoot for it. My only extra unsolicited advice is to have these vendors sign a contract (agreement) of your own. Basically something that states they will provide the work at a later date without any new charges being added. You could also add extra stuff depending on vendor. I put in mine that I require my original photographer take photos and that the service not be handed off to an apprentice. Protect yourself!

That is such great advice that I wouldn’t have even thought of! With so much stress it’s so easy to forget those kinds of things thanks!

Congrats to you and I hope your planning is going well! Here in AZ it is still very hot in September and most of October. It goes from being miserably hot during the summer to pretty much winter overnight. Thank you it is something that I will consider if I have to.

My thoughts as well with the catering, the other venders, family and friends. They all need a little bit of time. And I really have envisioned a spring wedding with wild flowers. I appreciate your words of encouragement so much!

Thank you so much! I appreciate being able to talk with others who are going through the same thing with their weddings. The pandemic is causing so much confusion and everyone is scared, and they definitely dont want to talk to me about my wedding. I’m afraid they won’t want to come even a few month later. There is no need to get married right away. So waiting a year might be the better option. Thank you again for your opinion and advice!

We're in AZ as well....we were supposed to get married March 29th, but ended up having to postpone due to CoronaVirus to a date in November.

I am going ahead with my vision of a springtime wedding, but just changing the date to the fall. Colors, theme, etc still the same.

I would say postpone to next year would be best.
It isn’t too early and people will understand.

I recommend spring or fall wedding in Phoenix. I live in Phoenix.
