Anything to Avoid in a Wedding Dress?

Michael, on November 11, 2022 at 3:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Is there anything that brides suggest to be careful of or avoid concerning style options on a wedding dress?

Some things are just preferences such as a long train or no train, for example. There is, for example, the advice about illusion mesh matching your skin color.

Michael just give your ideas to the sales or consultants your ideas and let them show you. Different styles shapes and colors and what you thought that would clash can be what you want. Many ppl have said that some ppl get stuck trying on so many dress. That you come overwhelmed and miss you dress and yes some color dress are very pretty. I pray that dress shopping wont to overwhelming

Some things brides don't consider when falling in love with a dress are:
    -what shape wear is compatible?
-what type of bustle?-will I be able to move, dance, sit in it?-if it's strapless, what happens when you raise your arms-what type/size of shoe heel will be worn?

Sure. the strapless does not work for everyone but often has been the common style available. Its okay to share stuff that caused unanticipated problems. But people can also note design stuff from the 70s that never should have been part of wedding dress styles.

I just set up this thread for no practical reasons. Just seeing if people found some things designers have promoted but really did not seem right.

Based on the current post-Covid trend of two dresses vs strict budgets and venue-enforced time constraints at all inclusive venues among cultures where that is not mainstream tradition (borrowed from Instagram and wedding tv), a big one is pick a single dress. Find one that you can’t imagine taking off for a minute that you can afford, and that during the try on shopping process, you move around in a multitude of actions to make sure it holds up. That means bend over, dance, sit, jump, stretch and the list goes on, and make sure that you can comfortably move in the dress without being weighted down.

Many people don’t have the extra money for a second dress that will be worn for 30 minutes at most or time allowed by the venue when the venue already has a tight timeline, that as it is cannot realistically include everything that couples are expected to do with their guests, to accommodate for the time it takes to get out of one dress and into another without leaving guests hanging and cutting dinner or dancing short.

I don't love sparkle, so this wasn't a consideration for me, but I know someone whose arms were bleeding by the end of her wedding because her dress had jewels and sequins under the arms.

Wow. That's horrible. I wonder if designers keep track of issues like that. There might be other material that does not work well.

One thing I didn't hear a lot about was to consider the security of the straps. My dress had thin shoestring straps, and it didn't occur to me that they might not hold up as well as something like a cap sleeve with a few inches holding it up. My dress was fine and didn't have any mishaps, but it's something to consider.

I think the illusion material should be used sparingly or should mostly be covered in lace or appliques. Often it is the wrong color against a person's regular skin color.
