Anyone taking a late honeymoon?

Mrs_17, on March 9, 2017 at 5:06 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 39

FH and I have decided to wait until next year since most of my family is coming from out of the country and they are planning to stay for 1 month. Anyone else taking a late honeymoon? and if you have, did it make it easier to plan and all?

ETA: I'd love to keep hearing where you everyone is going! Smiley smile ...FH and I are really wanting to visit Dubai so we are saving every penny for that. Possibly late 2018, early 2019 (God willing)

We are getting married in June, but taking our honeymoon in September for a couple reasons. First, wedding is expensive AF and we want a couple months to save up a little money. Second, We are moving at the end of July. Third, we are staying at our venue the whole weekend of our wedding, so it's not like we are going home that night to wash dishes.

I have totally put off any planning for the honeymoon until after the wedding so I have something to look forward to.

Yes, we are planning a guided 2-week tour in Europe called the "Band of Brothers" tour that follows the path of the 101st airborne division in WWII leading up to the end of the war. They only do these tours during specific dates. Plus, we're getting married the weekend of Christmas so our family will be around us for the wedding and first few days. We'll probably spend a few days in Tahoe later that week, though - just the 2 of us for a "mini" honeymoon. ;-)

I haven't even thought about a honeymoon yet. We want to do Disney I think so if that's the plan it is definitely happening much later. But we do live fairly close to the ocean (only maybe a 3 hour drive) so we might just spend a couple nights in Monterrey and go to the aquarium if we decide to go right after the wedding. It's totally fine to do a late honeymoon. A lot of people do that.

We also delaying our honeymoon for 2 reasons. 1. we marrying in July and we want a little bit more money to save. 2. Traveling in July is expensive AF why pay for the same cruise in July for the price one person is the cost of two people in September. I think it's up to the couple to decide when to go on their honeymoon. Plus it's what you can afford.

We are putting off our honeymoon until December. We're going to a Sandals resort in Jamaica and wanted to avoid hurricane season! FH and I also both run our own businesses and summer is our busiest time. We are going to stay in a local hotel for a couple nights after the wedding just to do something right after though Smiley smile I am looking forward to not having to worry about packing/passports during the wedding week!

We are putting ours off for a year. Only because I'm moving in with him this summer. We want me to move while my kids are on vacation at their dad's so it would be easier. We decided next summer while the kids are on vacation would be best.

We haven't decided on where we want to go yet, but I'm shooting for our honeymoon to be taken on our 1st anniversary. Helps us keep a realistic budget for the wedding and we can save for our trip!

Yes, and YES! I think it depends on your honeymoon, financial situation, and how long you have to plan, and work situations.

we are getting married in 2 weeks and not going on a honeymoon until October to Madrid, Rome, and Athens.

I think it's a fabulous idea, honestly! It gives you something ELSE to look forward to! We went to the very south Jersey shore for a couple days, then flew to England and drove up through Scotland. It was great!

We are taking a later honeymoon. We're both still in school, but he graduates a month after the wedding and we're also in the process of buying a home, plus planning a wedding . We're going to wait maybe until winter and go somewhere to see snow. Neither one of us has ever seen snow before, so we definitely want to do something different.

We are!! We are getting married in July and planning to go on our honeymoon in January for so many reasons! 1. Was that FH's family is going on vacation with extended family the week after our wedding since they will all be on the east coast (where they go to the beach) so we will get to go on that vacation since we only see them twice a year. 2. Reason we haven't even started booking our honeymoon yet so it's less stress and we can save up money after the wedding 3. I'd rather go somewhere warm when it's cold where we live!

I think it's the way to go! I'm excited to have something to look forward to after the wedding is over!

We weren't planning on waiting, but now we might. We're going to Thailand and I read that September is rainy season. So now we're probably waiting until November. We don't want to go all the way over there and miss out on activities and sightseeing because of bad weather.

We are. We're getting married in September but booked our honeymoon for December. We want to avoid hurricane season and also go somewhere warm in the winter (we live in Chicago) We only get a few months with nice weather and September is usually one of them!

We are. A week after the wedding my fiance leaves for two weeks of army training out of state, so we will go in July. We will have time to catch our breath and take time to really plan out our trip. It'll be nice to have something to look forward to!

ETA: We are heading to Colorado! My fiance has never been, and it's been too long for me.

Yes! Our wedding is in August but decided to wait to go on our honeymoon till next year. Weddings do get expensive and we are getting married in another state so we have to travel already for our wedding. We want to be able to afford everything for our honeymoon and have a great time without stressing!

We plan on taking a cruise!

We are!!! We have tons of family from OOT coming, so we want to spend time with them. Haven't figured out our location yet, but have narrowed it down to England, Scotland, Greece, Italy.

@Earias, that Band of Brothers trip sounds AMAZING. FH would love it! I went to Normandy in 2013 and it was fascinating.
