Anyone else hate the tropics/warm locations?

Just looking for solidarity! I personally haaaaaate warm weather and beaches. We’re looking at Scotland or Iceland for hiking and Paris for some culture. What about you?

While I love warm weather (winter is my LEAST favorite season), I'm not a huge fan of the beach. I like to go once or twice during the summer, but I'd much rather spend time in the mountains! We had originally planned our honeymoon for a cruise to the Bahamas, but instead chose to stay a week in a cabin in North Carolina. Way more our style Smiley sexy

I would love to go to Europe like you mentioned, that might have to be our 5 year anniversary trip!

Same. I hate being hot and in warm temperatures. I would rather go somewhere cooler and not so hot. Plus I tend to run warm as it is, so being in the heat for a honeymoon is not something I would enjoy. We are doing a long weekend in the north woods of Wisconsin at this cool hotel/ waterpark. They also have an awesome town that we vacation in so will go there as well.

I hate the heat esp because I sweat (esp the armpits) but if we elope where he wants to have the honeymoon it would be in the Caribbean. -_-. I would much rather Paris but FH is kinda lame when it comes to travel ha ha. Paris would be beautiful.

I think it depends for me! My recent vacations have all been the more adventurous, hiking, exploring, soaking up the culture type. FH and I went to Pictured Rocks, where he proposed during a 10 mile hike up the cliffs. Before that it was Colorado, Scotland, Amsterdam, Paris, London, Austria, and Germany. Most of these involved a LOT of hiking. In a few months we are going to New Orleans, which is more laid back but we plan on doing a lot of walking and all that. Sooo no beachy or warm vacations for us since we've been together! I absolutely loved all of our vacations and I think I prefer these types to the beach vacations. But for our honeymoon I think we want to relax a bit more, so we are planning on a short cruise right after our honeymoon and then Portugal a few months later after I graduate law school. The cruise will be nice and relaxing but there's lots to do so we wont get bored, and then Portugal also has gorgeous beaches and a lot of culture so its the best of both worlds!

And I just wanted to add that Scotland is AMAZING. It is by far my favorite place and after going I want to move there one day lol. The people are so nice and its absolutely gorgeous. If you decide to go there it will be a blast Smiley smile

Oh that’s a bummer! I know when I started dating. FH his willingness to travel was important. Maybe you could elope in Paris then fly to the Bahamas!

Nope! His whole mindset is why go that far when we won two free stays and we have places here. -_- I would settle for eloping and mini honeymoon in LA (we went last year and we fell in love with the city and consider it our place) because there is sentiment there but I am sure he would not see spending money to fly there...now a groupon maybe! LOL.

I am definitely not a heat-loving or beach-loving person. I personally don't care where others spend their vacations, but I admit I do find it odd that "beach vacation" is somehow the default honeymoon. That leads people to declare that they want to do something "untraditional" and not go to the beach. Or people worried they can't take a honeymoon at all because they are getting married during hurricane season and how can they possibly travel to a beach?

I mean, a honeymoon is just a vacation you take after you get married. There is no right or wrong destination!

FH and I compromised--I actually really wanted the whole beach thing but he didn't. We're going to Corsica, which has both beaches and hiking/history/etc.

I love warm weather, but my cousin & her husband hate beaches so they went to Canada for their honeymoon! We have a trip scheduled to Ireland in June, we are pretty excited about that.

I live in the Caribbean, so I really don't want a beach or warm weather for the honeymoon. So, we are planning on going up to the mountains somewhere to spend a cozy week Smiley smile Winter wedding, after all.

I did tropical but I also love sightseeing. Paris was a dream, so much history, art and culture! Highly recommend it.

I’m a California girl through and through (love me temperate, sunny weather!) but my FH and I are doing a UK tour for our honeymoon. We’ll be traveling around Ireland, Scotland, and England, with a potential day trip over to Paris through the chunnel. We can always visit a beach, but it’s not every day we see so much greenery!

I love warm weather and the beach, however, we wanted to do something different for our honeymoon. We did a minimoon right after our wedding in the mountains and will be heading to Ireland this summer for our honeymoon!
