Anyone else eloping? When and where? Date?

Victorian Bride, on September 28, 2020 at 11:08 PM Posted in Planning 3 31
Hi Everyone!

I've not been on here in a very long time. So much going on in the world, and especially our lives. We are all dealing with a pandemic, fires, hurricanes, and the stress of everyday life. So grateful for this forum and my WW friends. ❤

Well, the path to marriage has not been easy. We have been trying to marry since April 2018. Many of you know this. Life has gotten in the way. First, my mother passed, my father had to have FOUR surgeries ( including open heart), then my fiancé's mother became ill and he became her full-time caregiver ( for 2 years), my service dog, my beloved Gaston, passed away in June 2019, and now my FMIL has recently passed. We have dealt with much sadness mixed with our joy.
I'm of Irish decent so we planned to elope to Ireland in May 2021. It's not working out with covid-19 and a possible 14 day quarantine upon arrival in Dublin, even next Spring. Simply too iffy. The Gothic castle was gorgeous, indeed, and perfect for the Victorian themed wedding we desire. Now we'll save it for a vow renewal.
So,...... drum roll please..... we have plans in place to elope to Jamaica!! We will have a sunset ceremony at Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort in an over the water gazebo, possibly the one shown with the lace draped chairs, pictured. Have to sneak in our Victorian touches. Smiley winking Our wedding date is April 9, 2021. I pray that from this time forth everything falls into place. We have been patient.
I'd love to hear your stories as we all stick together in this difficult time. Best of luck and lots of love to each and every couple. 💕❤ xoxoAnyone else eloping? When and where? Date? 1

Hi Dear Judith! Yes, it's nice to be back. My health is still problematic, but it's so nice to have concrete wedding plans. I finally see light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you so much! 💕❤

Thank you so much Cyndy!! 💕❤ You are so sweet. We are both looking forward to it. Now we have to do a complete groom outfit change. What he was going to wear in Ireland won't work in the Caribbean. We are now thinking white dinner jacket with black pants. My gown is a pale pink.

Are you really eloping? Or will you have a small number of guests?

Thank you, Kell! So appreciated. 💗

Yes, we are really eloping. Just the two of us. What are you two planning on doing? Do you have your dress? Oh! Our date was "given" to us. The resort books up quickly with weddings.
We are planning a large black tie reception next fall/early winter for all of our friends and family. We'll send out wedding announcements after we return.

I’m struggle with this as well we have children and eloping away would be great but it’s an adult only hotel. I’m so torn I just can’t image getting married to their father without them. But it’s so much more cheaper.

Oh Tekindrah!! What a horrible delimma!! I have a friend with children who went to an all inclusive resort that was for families, for her wedding, but I have no idea of the cost. If where you are planning to go is adults only, have you thought of having a ceremony when you return with the children? I know you are torn. It's an impossible situation. I also have several friends who have eloped recently and then are planning a wedding for friends and family next year. I wish you all the best! Sending a big hug!!❤

Awwwww...thank you Adrienne! ❤ We had to postpone 3 actual weddings during this time, so we are very happy with our choice. I am looking forward to being a Mrs., most of all, and then having our big celebration with everyone later. xoxo

REALLY? Awesome!!! Wish we'd be there at the same time. I have friends who go at least once a year and they said it's fantastic and we will not want to leave. I have my appt with our wedding planner in about a month. I'm so excited to meet someone marrying at the same resort. I know 6/6/21 will be amazing. ❤
