Any states updating wedding guidance with vaccination status?

Kari, on April 5, 2021 at 12:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

The wedding guidance in our state (New Hampshire) has not changed significantly since June of last year. With vaccines rolling out faster every day, I am really hoping to see some new guidance that will relax masking and social distancing restrictions on fully vaccinated weddings.

I'm curious if any other states have updated their wedding guidance to reflect that it will be possible to have fully vaccinated weddings in the near future. NH's current guidance doesn't even mention vaccines at all, except in regards to quarantine when travel. Currently most of our guests are on track to be fully vaccinated before Memorial Day.

Our state just put out guidelines beginning April 15th, allowing for more attendees at events/receptions if ALL people are fully vaccinated. However, wearing masks and social distancing have not and will not be relaxed for quite some time. I keep hearing until at least 2022.

CA just came out with new guidelines before the weekend for private events based on our tiers. The county I live in is currently in the Orange tier (Tier 3), so there's a lot of hope for brides coming up this summer.

Thanks! What state are you in?

I know New York (maybe the city, maybe the state) now requires negative tests or vaccinations but still has social distancing and masking in place.

Thanks, this is super helpful to see.

Is masking/social distancing required at private events in California?

I keep hearing that from Californians, but every time I look at CA's restrictions they don't seem any worse than what I'm seeing elsewhere (at least in the northeast). I work in Vermont, which has been quite strict with travel and multi-household gatherings of any kind. At one point this winter Vermont even banned going for an outdoor walk with your neighbor, which needless to say was quite unpopular and short lived.

THIS!!!! I'm getting married in about 3 weeks. Our county is currently in red, but expected to move to orange tomorrow. Our venue coordinator called us Friday morning saying that we needed to have a discussion about the reality of where our state is at right now. This came out literally a couple hours after that, and a couple hours before when we had our discussion scheduled, and it made that discussion SO MUCH BETTER!!! If this hadn't happened, we would have had to find a different place to have the reception and it would have been just a nightmare. We can now move forward with our plans. Here's the article our venue coordinator sent us that day as well: https://www.sacbee.com/news/california/article250397221.html?utm_source=pushly&intcid=pushly_911028

We're getting married in Las Vegas, but we live in California. One of the reasons we moved it was because Nevada's restrictions are lifting faster than California. Coming May 1st, they expect to have more restrictions lifted. Most of our 20 guests will be fully vaccinated by the time we get married.

I agree with this. I’m in NY and even with the loosened restrictions and mandated testing neg result or proof of vaccine, masks and social distancing still remain. I mean guests can dance but only in their household pods and my venue said we would have to police our guests to keep them in their right pods. That sounded like a nightmare so we opted out of dancing all together. But I foresee masks and distancing continuing at least until 80% or more of the US population is vaccinated and they still have to see how long these vaccinations offer protection for. I see Pzier is at least 6 months it could be more. But with everyone getting vaccinated at different times some peoples 6 months are coming up while others still have time. So the restrictions could be ongoing at least until 2022.

Private events have not been technically allowed to happen so far, but yes, masks are still mandated by the state. Which, honestly, doesn't bother me as I'm quite used to it at this point (I'm a teacher and I teach all day wearing a mask). There are still some social circles who don't wear masks, but I tend to stay away from those groups just because I don't see any reason to potentially increase the spread, especially with the new variants around.

No, you're right, we're ranked top 5 of most restricted states next to Hawaii, DC, Vermont, and Virginia. For months we weren't allowed to travel more than 120 miles from home and our restaurants, hair/nail salons have finally opened in last month. It has been very frustrating to see our neighboring states practically wide open in all business/event sectors. Best wishes to you!

I think Jersey is now dropping the quarantine requirement *if you are fully vaccinated*.

I'm in CT which now allows 200 outdoors, and 100 indoors. I expect at least 80% of our wedding to be vaccinated though so I'm feeling pretty optimistic. It doesn't require that everyone get a negative test.
