Any Esthetician's on here? Help!😂

Victorian Bride, on November 29, 2020 at 8:01 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 16
Hi! I need advice. I had beautiful skin ( Im not vain, just honest), just a few lines caused by dehydration from meds, until about 2 months ago when a friend suggested I change products. She said if I switched I'd have even more gorgeous skin by our April wedding. So I switched......

The products I switched too are very high end and are getting rave reviews. My friend is an esthetician, but doesn't live near me. The products she suggested have dried out my skin under my eyes so much so that now they look dry and crepey like elderly skin, forehead, too. She also had me begin a GloPro regime at night.

So now I know I need to go back to my old skin care routine, right? I need major hydration. Does anyone use GloPro? Do you think it has caused my undereye wrinkles and forehead wrinkles, or its simply dehydration from these new products? The rest of my face and décolletage looks great from the new products and the GloPro. And with GloPro, I'm using the correct attachments for each area.
I have a NuFace, anyone think I need to begin using it? I'd stopped.
Thankfully, April is still 4 months away, but I'm embarrassed over the way my skin looks right now. I feel ugly and worry how our wedding photos will look. I'd appreciate ANY advice. Thank you in advance.

Is there retinol in it? If so, that’s likely what’s drying out your skin. I’d try to find something with a lower percentage retinol. Also, the major department stores have sample pack size holiday gifts if you want to try something new - I just did this with dr. Barbara strurm serums and am very happy with results.

Thank you for answering Katie!! No, no retinol in these products. I've heard good things about Dr Barbara Strurm. For the life of me, I can't figure out why these products are drying out my skin. They are full of beneficial oils. But I definitely can't continue them or I'm going to look 100 by April.

I think you should go back to using what was working for you. Everyone's skin is different, so it's not surprising that what works for your friend doesn't work for you. But I wouldn't overthink it now, just go back to the products/routine that gave you beautiful skin in the past.

I don't know what GloPro or NuFace are, so I can't comment on those.

Hi Maggie! Yes, I've been ordering my products again while we are having these great sales. Enough is enough. I gave the new products a good try. Thank you.❤

GloPro is an at home miconeedling device with the red LED light. I think it's led, supposed to support collagen regeneration.
NuFace is a mico stimulating device similar to what they have in salons. It firms the facial muscles by electrical impulses (or something similar).
    I'm a beauty junkie. 😂😇

Esthetician here! Honestly have not heard of Glopro but HIGHLY RECOMMEND nuface. Love it. Just need a to add in another moisturizing serum or water based moisterizer. Oilys help but if your lines are tight. Its dehydration and need some water. Dermalogica calm water gel. Or murads water moisterizer. Honestly can be used as a "serum"

Oh! Thank you, Caitlin!! Yes, my issue is definitely dehydration. I'll check out both products recommend. I really appreciate your input. The only thing I don't like about my NuFace is it shocks the fire out of my face. It really hurts. I have to put TONS of gel to make it not hurt and it seems extremely wasteful. Any suggestions?

Make sure no jewelry is on. You can use a cheaper hyaluronic underneath then put the gel. Cleanse then cheaper serum and gel. Sometimes if its so dry it acts like its breaking through dry skin. What size nuface do you have . The bigger one(trinity) is clinical voltage. Sometimes it can be strong. You can adjust the "shock on all of them" then build up the tolerance.

The only jewelry I wear are some teeny 14k baby earrings that I sleep in. I need to remove them everytime I use my NuFace (no right, you mean jewelry on my face, correct?)? Sorry to bombard you with questions. I really appreciate it. Yes, I have the Trinity and also the Elle attachment which I've never used. I also have the mini for travel. I forget the voltage can be changed. Duh! 🙄haha! I'll look for a drug store hyaluronic that I can use. Great idea!! I love the gold gel. Thank you, Caitlin. You are so sweet and helpful.

Any jewelry in general draws the current there but you should be fine with gold. No worries. The Elle attachment is AMAZING. Great for a quick eyebrow lift and lip area. I like to place them right under the cheek bone area to do a good zap . It helps contract the muscle. So nice cheek bones. The Gold gel is great. Right now ulta has nuface products on 25% off. If you need more gel 😆the oridinary has a nice hyaluronic for like 7 bucks.

These products sound great, I'm going to check out some of the beauty tools online! I've been trying to stay consistent with my skincare routine and only add in a few new products that I know my skin will be okay with.

Hi Victoria!! Hope you find something that you love. Glad you've found this post helpful! I did a Karuna Hydrating Face mask last night and it really helped. I've used that brand for years.

I love both my GloPro and my NuFace. I know it was the new products that dried out my skin. I just need tons of moisture. I have friends who NuFace in the morning and GloPro at night. Ha! Ha! Best wishes!! ❤

If anyone needs about a 6+ hour beauty boost try Skyn Iceland Face-lift in a bag, or any of this line. I buy them as gifts and my friends love them. They are amazing. They are hydro cool firming face gels that stay in place. Definitely will be a part of my wedding morning prep.

I've learned the hard way to stick with what works and NOT change unless something tiny.

    Any Esthetician's on here? Help!😂 1
    xoxo ❤

I would go back to your old routine. Everyone's skin is different, and your diet, environmental factors, how hydrated you are, stress and hormone levels, how hard or soft your tap water is, etc all impact how your skin looks.

I live in New Hampshire and the biggest challenge I have with my skin and hair is that something will work for me for a while and then the seasons will change and I'll have to change my routine/products. For example, thicker moisturizing products that are too heavy in the summer are a lot more tolerable during the cold, dry winter months when my hair and skin crave moisture.

Also some products are great for your skin but need to be balanced very carefully. Retinol/Retinoids for example can help with wrinkles and fine lines but it also increases your skin's photosensitivity, so if you use Retinol without being religious about SPF, you can actually make your skin worse because of sun damage on the younger new skin cells. Retinols/noids are also not advised for pregnant women (as a side note, just in case that's news to anyone expecting or trying to conceive).

I found that when I tried to get really into my skincare - double cleansing my face twice a day, using a PMD Clean, using serums, moisturizers, etc - it actually just made me feel worse about my skin. I don't know if it actually made my skin worse, but cleaning it so much made it feel dry and tight if I washed it and didn't throw on products right away, and because I was staring at my face constantly looking for "improvements" I think I noticed imperfections more and it made me feel more self conscious about them. I've found that the best thing that seems to work for my skin is drinking more water (which I really don't do enough of), putting on SPF daily, and mostly leaving it alone.

Thank you, Kari! Love your photo by the way! I've repurchased my old cleanser for dehydrated skin, works the best for me, as well as an organic toner sans alcohol. My skin is beginning to look like it used to. I've totally stopped microneedling since it seemed to make my skin worse. My friends are doing it, but I'll pick it up again after my wedding.

My skin craves moisture. Since we aren't getting married here in Mississippi, I'm glad we are getting married in Jamaica. Lots of moisture in that air and we are already used to it. 😂
I drink about 2 gallons of water a day. Probably too much! I love water!! You are correct. Now that our wedding is approaching, I'm living in the mirror looking for any facial flaw. That is definitely on me. Need to stop stressing. At least, I've learned to go back to what works and not change things right now. xx

Products in cosmetology are chosen according to your skin type, but not on the basis of your friend's advice. I understand that everyone may be wrong, but you need to be more responsible towards your skin.
