I'm not currently planning my wedding. I actually work with WeddingWire on their forums answering members questions and offering advice where I can. It's such a fun job and I definitely feel like I will be prepared when my own engagement comes around!😃

I too am getting married at The Oaks! When I was looking for vendors, I looked on their recommended vendor list they gave them, but I also looked on here and the knot for other options. I hired the photographer and hair and makeup off their list. However, I went with other vendors for my baker, florist and officiant.

No, this is not a destination wedding, we are originally from New Orleans, but currently live in Prairieville, not far from Baton Rouge.

So I have an appointment with Clarcks Creations in Livingston for the cake but I haven't decided yet. I work with a girl who got her cake from there and she got a 4 tier and groom's cake for $500 I thought that was a great price so that's why I have an appointment with them!!
Which hair/make-up artist off the list did you go with?? I'm having trouble deciding on that. Also, are you getting a trail run for hair/make-up?? If so, let me know how it goes if you don't mind, I could really use some suggestions!!

I went with Verde Beauty. I don't know much about hair and make-up but looking on their website and Facebook page, I liked what I saw. I will be getting a trial run for my hair and makeup, but that won't be until late December or early January. I am trying to see if I can do my trial on the same day as my bridal pictures.

I haven't got a official quote from her about the wedding cake, but she did say that a 3 tier cake was around 450 to 500. So that price of 500 for a 4 tier wedding cake and groom's cake sounds like a great deal!

Are you adding additional decorations to what the Oaks provide or are you doing your own decorations? I am thinking of adding some decorations on top of what they will offer. Like for example around the sign in table, cake table and some ceremony decorations. I am trying to just a little personal touches here and there, especially using my wedding colors.

As far as decor, I am actually doing my own linens, sequin runners, and I'm getting centerpieces from the florist. I'm shopping for quotes from flower shops now. Other than that, I'm pretty much just adding some of my own personal touches along with decor the venue is providing, like you!!

Congratulations, Kelly! I am a Baton Rouge bride, also. Our wedding is 5/2/20 and are getting married at Gabriel’s House of Events. My FH and I loved Gabriel's House!! We probably would have booked with them however we really didn't "click" very well with the lady that runs everything and showed us around. Then I went to the Oaks and we loved it there and the man that runs everything is great!! Gabriel's was beautiful though!! I loved the outside area and the draping in the front room!!

I bet it feels great to have all your venders booked!! I can't wait to have that done!! Where did you end up going for flowers?? I'm trying to find an affordable florist now!!

I was running into issues because of the upcharging since I didn’t need the venue decorated.. only needed bouquets, corsages, boutonnières, etc. House of Redd’s was my saving grace! Please check them out!

I am a Louisiana bride getting married in July 2021. The biggest issue I am having is trying to find a venue that is NOT all inclusive. I would like to provide my own alcohol and catering. If anyone has any suggestions for a venue in NOLA or surrounding areas please please let me know.
