Any actual casual weddings/elopements/minimonies?

Mrs. Spring, on October 18, 2020 at 8:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
Whenever I google images of casual weddings, the results show the nuptials wearing attire that is not casual such as the bride wearing a full wedding gown 😯 nothing wrong with this, but it really is not casual.

Have any of you attended or participated in a wedding/ceremony that was actually casual? If so, what did you or others wear?Any actual casual weddings/elopements/minimonies? 1

My SIL had a backyard minimony due to covid. She wore a navy sundress and her wife wore a nice-looking pair of shorts and white t-shirt (summer in the south). There were 10 guests in attendance and we all wore casual clothes as well. I wore a sundress.

Hi! A friend of mine had a casual wedding and she, the bride, wore jeans and a white shirt. I am having a casual brunch wedding. While I’m wearing a simple flow-y dress, my FH will wear a button down, nice joggers, and sneakers.

We’re having a mini wedding October 30th and post pined all our vendors and stuff to next year since in NY you can even dance or anything and I saved everything down to my ballgown snd photo/video. This year I’m wearing a simple red dress, we are renting a community center building and probably ordering pizza after the ceremony and a small cake and I got a bouquet of flowers for myself this year. It’s basically like two people getting married and having a very casual celebration after!!! Any actual casual weddings/elopements/minimonies? 2

My daughter's wedding was very casual and laid back. She wore a simple wedding dress, everyone else was casual. Groom and groomsmen in jeans, boots, flannel shirts. Guests in jeans. Had catered BBQ, drinks iced in troughs, sat on hay bales...hay bales were the biggest expense! 115 Guests, under $6000 including alcohol.

Where was the wedding held? And some people mention, even for backyard weddings, the need to rent toilet facilities. Definitely there are people trying to arrange for weddings at that price but cannot find a venue let alone food at that price.

In the Texas Hill Country, at SIL's ranch. There was 1 bathroom (on a septic), 115 people, and we were fine. My other daughter is getting married in November and using a county venue that accommodates 150. Friday and Saturday, set up, clean up, full kitchen for $1800. She is wearing the full gown, but everything else super casual. Don't look up wedding venues, look up event centers. Good luck! Don't let anyone talk you out of what you want to do.

Look at restaurants for catering. We're getting BBQ, delivery, set up, and buffet service, 2 meats, 3 sides for $19/pp.

That's probably a good point about "wedding" venues. People mentioned here about wedding venues being a high price but if you just have a "party" at the same place, it would be cheaper -- just that the venue would kind of come against you for misrepresenting the event.

Congrats on the weddings of two daughters. These daughters' weddings are "casual" but probably not as casual as envisioned in the original title, but thanks for sharing some ideas. Post also in the wedding planning reception areas to help show others what is possible. I do think few places around us would not even cook the food at $19 per person, but I think restaurants are a good resource anyhow.

Many casual restaurants offer drop off catering for under $20/person. They won’t be on fancy china plates with tuxedoed waitstaff but many mom and pop restaurants offer catering services. EzCater has thousands of options and you can reach out directly to them instead of the middleman (EZCater) for more options and information. Local ethnic restaurants have catering as well. So you are not limited to expensive choices only. The restaurant catering frequently provides a larger quantity of food and is better tasting than most fancy wedding-specific caterers, especially since people frequently say that wedding specific food is bad tasting and not well made. But they don’t want to do the easy work of looking for their favorite local casual date night spot to provide the food because of an aesthetic stigma.
