Amazon Registry - Not off to a Good Start!

MrsD, on April 12, 2019 at 2:15 PM Posted in Registry 0 15

UGH. So I got an email we got a gift from our registry (my shower is in May). I got that email on April 5, so I realized today we still hadn't received it. I checked the registry & tracked the gift, and it was delivered April 10...to Long Island, NY. WHAT?!

I live in Colorado, the gifter lives in Colorado, my shower is in Colorado.

I was so mortified. After contacting Amazon & my fiance's cousin (who sent the gift), she has been refunded & it's a seller error on Amazon. How is that even possible? I've never had that happen before. I had Amazon check my registry 4 times to make sure my address listed is my Colorado address and there is no evidence of any other addresses.

I'm pretty stressed, hoping we get another gift purchase soon to see if it is delivered to CO (either our house or the house of someone coming to the shower or my mom's house where the shower is held).

Amazon said this is bizarre, and they hadn't heard of this happening before. I took the plates & cups off our registry from that specific seller (both were Pioneer Woman, but they don't sell on Amazon so it was a third party seller). I'm hoping this was a one time thing, but it put a super bad taste in my mouth!

Oh wow, hope you don't run into any more problems. So far, I've received two gifts off of our Amazon registry, no problems, but I will definitely be keeping an eye on it from now on.

I'm so glad yours worked, that's good to know. I honestly thing it was just a weird seller. I didn't realize it wasn't Pioneer Woman directly when I put them on our registry. It also wasn't "Prime" for shipping. For some reason I put more trust in sellers that can get it to me in two days? I think most our other ones are Prime. It was surprising though, these glasses had good reviews so it's not like this was a common occurrence.

Mistakes happen, it was probably human error on their part. I am going to check my registry now though, because I think I have some pioneer woman stuff on it too.

The seller was "bd sale center". I guess you can't see the seller until you add something to your cart, go to check out & it will sell "sell by and shipped from X" or something like that.

I had that happen with the first pair of wedding shoes I ordered! I ordered from China, which I had never done before and was tracking them like crazy cause I was excited. Then one day I got the notification that they delivered... in Illinois... meanwhile I live in Connecticut. So bizarre!
I’m glad it worked out for you - hoping the rest goes smoothly!

That is bizarre! I've literally never had it happen, and I probably order 1-2 things from Amazon every week. That is so weird!

I had my registry through Amazon and just wanted to post about my return experience in case it will help someone out. Even though it was all through Amazon, I still received two of one of my registered items (seriously how do people do this?).

Amazon states that for registry returns "The gift giver is not notified and you will receive a gift card for the value". Well even though I followed the link and returned the duplicate item the only way that was given to me. It was refunded to the gift giver and not to a gift card. Yeah they notified the gift giver too.

I'm confused, you received two of the same gift and returned them to Amazon, who refunded the purchaser rather than send you a gift card? So Amazon had charged them twice?

We've had a better experience so far, we've had about 15 items purchased and none have had any problems.

Sorry for not explaining clearly. I received two of the same item (that I registered for 1 of) from 2 separate gift givers. So I wanted to return one of them (it's a cutlery organizer, not something that I really need two of).

Amazon's thank you list on the wedding registry page has a button if you need to return a gift. If you click on that link it states at the top "Refund will be issued as an Amazon gift card credit. Gift givers aren't notified when you return an item."

I followed that process and instead of having the item returned and getting a gift card so I could purchase a different item off my registry, Amazon refunded directly to the gift giver and notified them of the return. Now I feel awkwardly that I should contact the gift giver to let them know what happened (so at least they will not wonder why the item was returned), but then it looks like I am asking for them to give me another gift.

That is so weird! That hasn't happened yet, and I do check ours to see if it updates after someone purchases something. I know Amazon doesn't delete the item from the registry after it's been purchased so maybe the guest just didn't see the "0 out of 1 needed" and bought it anyway?

I want to update for anyone reading this post...every gift going forward has been easy & arrived with no problems! We have gotten a ton of compliments on how easy the registry is to use.

Oh no! So far no problems with it with us, but I'll be sure to keep an eye out for anything like that! Hopefully you don't experience that again!

We haven't after that! It was a rogue first experience I guess, everything else has been great so far.

What are the main benefits and terms of participation in the Amazon Trade-In program, and how are products valued when exchanged for discounts or credits toward future purchases on Amazon?
