Alternative covid Wedding - diy H&mu??

FutureMrs.C, on June 27, 2020 at 5:16 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 13

Because of everything going on in this crazy world right now, FH and I decided to have a ceremony of sorts now and hold the reception next year when things are (hopefully) closer to normal.

We are planning on a "drive-in" wedding where we invite immediate family and best friends to watch from their cars. That said, I still want to get all dolled up for my FH (and for the pictures a family member is going to take from afar). I'm so nervous about trying to do my H&MU myself. I don't really do my hair or makeup on a regular basis.

Is anyone in the same boat? Have you/are you planning to do your own H&MU for your wedding?

Any tips welcome - types of hair products that hold things together well, makeup brand suggestions, anything will help!

YouTube videos to help with hair and make up. Use the time you have now to practice.
I find a makeup style I like and practice it before I go to work. If someone says something I tell them I’m practicing my HMU

Do you wear makeup at all now?

To keep makeup in place I’d do a primer and setting spray when all is done.
I have used Estée Lauder double wear forever and swear by it. You have to try makeup and see what works best for you. Mascara - better than sex waterproof or regular (this has been my go to for a couple years)
Hair products - anything redken but definitely pillow proof hair primer

Find a light tinted moisturizer, that can be a good alternative to foundation

I’m doing my own hair and makeup too. I’ve been watching YouTube videos and just trying things out. I’ve bought sone travel and sample sizes. Normally I’d say go somewhere like Sephora yo get samples and advice in colors and things, but that depends on if they’re open and I’m not sure how they’ve adjusted due to Covid. Give yourself plenty of time to practice! My biggest issue is I’ll life how I look on camera but in person I feel like it’s too much, of I’ll like it in person but it doesn’t come across on camera, I’m working on finding a good balance.
If you’re thinking about wearing falsies, I’m TERRIBLE at applying them and just found Silly George LinerBond. I love it. Makes it so easy.
    Good luck!

Check out youtube for make tutorials as PP said. Go in person to choose any concealers/foundation/tinted moisturizers. Foundation and tinted moisturizer/BB cream should match you neck not your face. Don't go heavy on bronzer/blush. I find that you can get good make up at TJMaxx for less then half the cost sometimes (not sure what it's like now since it's been closed)

Yes I am definitely in the same boat. Our ceremony is 10/30/20 and we are holding off on the reception until next year. I’ve been testing doing my own makeup (hair to come next) and so far for long lasting makeup I’m swearing by a lot of Huda beauty products. I use Rhianna’s foundation but the huda resting boss face (I think that’s what it’s called) will keep your makeup on so well it’s actually a bit difficult to remove lol. I totally recommend it though!
