Alterations

Hello,
I bought my dress from David’s Bridal. I had a great experience and found a beautiful dress within my price range. When I purchased my dress I made my alterations appointment 6 weeks before my wedding (August 6,2021) however, I keep reading stories about how expensive David’s Bridal charges for alterations. If someone can give me advise on what to do. I live in the Cleveland area. ( for my Cleveland’s brides can you recommend where I can take it) I already looked up some local seamstresses and they have just “ok” reviews. Thanks in advance!

Did David’s Bridal give you an estimate of how much alterations would cost? When I bought my dress and discusses alterations, they gave me an estimate of costs ($800-1000) and it was included in my contract. I didn’t have to pay for it until alterations started, but that way they couldn’t change the cost later on (unless I added on more alterations that weren’t originally listed in the contract).

Can you take your dress to different shops to get quotes to compare?
I did feel more at ease having my bridal shop doing my alterations because if something were to go wrong, they were responsible for it and getting it fixed or a new dress.
