Alteration recommendations for Atlanta, ga

Nicole, on June 25, 2019 at 8:45 AM Posted in Georgia Planning 1 20
To all my Atlanta brides our there,

I am new to the big city of ATL and am in need of seamstress/alteration specialist recommendations for my wedding gown. I can travel anywhere around the city since I live smack dab in the middle—I’m open to hearing all different types of places! I am looking for a person that will not break the bank, because let’s face it, I’m a bride on a budget but with that, I’m going to my fittings alone because we are doing a destination wedding so the area needs to be safe for a single woman. Thank you all in advance and congratulations to all the brides out there! I hope you are enjoying your engagement and all the planning!

    Hi there Nicole Smiley smile

    Welcome to the WeddingWire community!

Congrats on the move Smiley smile

Yelp is a great place to look for local seamstresses in the area. Many of them have customer reviews and pictures you can check out!

The top three ranked on Yelp in Atlanta are Gizzelle James Couturiere, Saunders Sewing, and A&J Pro Alterations.

Have you much alterations to make to your dress?

Thank you so much Cliodhna! I appreciate your recommendations and will happily check these out! I will need the standard hem, bustle and nip&tuck but I wanted to remove some sequins under my arms as well as add off the shoulder sleeves which that is where I think it will get most costly.

Thank you again for your time. I appreciate it!

Welcome to Atlanta! I am right outside of Atlanta in Marietta. I wish I could refer somewhere for you but I am also looking for a place that doesn't require me to give up my first born for a hem! Good luck and hopefully someone can get you a good place to go.

Thank you and you can say that again! I am not excited about spending a lot on alterations on top of what I already paid for the gown. I was recommended to check out Ireana’s Alterations in Rosewell, GA as well as to look into Sue Kim Alterations in Chamblee, GA! Those aren’t too crazy far for you, Sherry, maybe you can check those out? I am also following up on The recommendation above: Bella Margianu (Go2Bella)! I hope this post helps you as much as it helps me! Congratulations on your engagement!

Thank you so much! Sue Kim In Chamblee was so nice and talented. She showed me a lot of her work and I think she did a great job. She quoted hem, bustle, boning removal and sleeve addition at $450 for me. I knew the hem would be costly because of the crazy detail on my gown. Looking to check into the other two in the weeks that follow and will keep you posted.

That actually seems like a great price. There's this place by me that everyone keeps recommending but I've been there before and I literally just needed the cleavage part of a tankini sewn together more and she wanted to charge over $100! No way I will go and have her quote a hem on a wedding dress lol

I’m finding the hem is most expensive but that is because my dress is very detailed. I feel like $100 is a little steep for that though!

Yes so did I. I ended up doing it myself in less than 10 mins and I suck at sewing lol. It did the trick for the hour I wanted to wear it.

That is AWESOME! I’d love to see the finished product (after your wedding, of course). That is amazing to me because I’d cut it off, not know what to do and staple it back together😂

LMAO! Oh lord, I was talking about the bathing suit I did myself. My dress, oh that would not be a good idea haha. My sister is actually really good with a sewing machine and said she could do it in 15 mins! She is going to take a look at it while she is in town for my shower next weekend so fingers crossed!

I am in Kennesaw and will be going to San Francisco in September to buy my dress. Also looking for a place to do alterations. Might also need to have my bonus daughter's flower girl dress altered as well.

In case you are still looking. Clara's wedding Alterations in Roswell. she has a profile on wedding wire, too. She is very experienced, super friendly and very reasonable. She altered my gown with sleeves, a bustle and a weird fitting issue in the back that made the dress just stunning for $360.

Thank you so much! That is a great price! I will look into it. I just found that Irena’s Alterations in Rosewell is quoting $250 and up but will still need to bring it in for a price consultation.

Best of luck! I know how nerve wracking this is. I got all sorts of anxiety when I had to leave my gown there lol
