Elizabeth, on January 16, 2020 at 5:02 PM Posted in California Planning 1 42

Hello All,

I want to find a Wedding Venue that's All-Inclusive with almost everything included - Any Good Budget ones you have found in Orange County to San Diego? Trying to find something mid-way.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth

Daughter and I visited 10 highly inclusive venues in Orange County, and when she controlled for cost, they were all within about a $1500 price range from top to bottom, when truly comparing apples-to-apples. For a 100 person wedding, in January (some off-season discounts), when everything was done, we came in right around $32,000, which was EXACTLY what the "what does an average wedding cost in So Cal" calculators predicted 18 months earlier. We looked at (from south OC county, northward): Wedgewood San Clemente, Plaza de Magdelena San Juan Cap, Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club CdC, Tivoli and Tivoli Too Laguna Beach, The Clubhouse at Anaheim Hills, Orange Hill, Orange Cnty Mining Company, Muckenthaler Estate Fullerton (the most expensive and only venue outside the $1500 price variation range), and The Chapel of Orange Orange. For her "must haves," Coto was by far her first choice, followed by Magdelena and Muckenthaler. Some of the others she eliminated immediately based on aesthetics/included amenities/services/regulations. Be really clear about what your "must haves" are and then prioritize all your other requirements. She had a copy of a book called "Here Comes the Guide," that she found incredibly helpful in narrowing her focus. Good luck!

At first it was 30K, but now looking at everything with 150 guests it’s looking like 35K would be maximum that I’ll truly want to spend for the wedding itself. Not sure what’s minimum and maximum at this point of my search. Kind of getting overwhelmed lol

Daughter comparison priced the heck out of everything, and found vendors she really loved, who did a great job, on the lower-end of the spectrum, but it's still really expensive to have any sense of a "traditional wedding" in So Cal. The least expensive venues we looked at were probably Wedgwood San Clemente and Orange County Mining, but both had a very different vibe than what daughter wanted. Plaza de Magdelena was probably one of the better "values" for the cost and "checked a lot of boxes," but hands down, daughter's 1st choice was CdC Golf and Racquet Club. She thought it was MUCH nicer than everything else we looked at, but, honestly, the bottom line was pretty comparable to the others (we did get a significant discount for January though). If you have specific questions or want referrals for other OC vendors let me know. We were thrilled with everyone daughter selected. Good luck!

About the same budget as us--my estimate right now is just under $38k, but that includes us paying for groomsmen attire and bridesmaids' hair and makeup. Fridays and Sundays will be cheaper than Saturdays at many venues. I got multiple quotes and some venues the swing is almost $20k. Completely ridiculous if you ask me, but if you can swing a Friday or Sunday wedding, that's an easy way to reduce budget. We were deadset on having a Saturday wedding, so had to do some searching.

We ending up loving Leo Carrillo Ranch in Carlsbad and booking there. They have ceremony and reception space, rentals, coordinator and catering (and bar) must go through them. By far some of the fairest pricing we saw while searching.

Others that we looked into but ultimately decided were not our style:

-Secret Garden in Rancho Santa Fe (this one is really all-inclusive and provides a photographer and florist if i remember correctly. Bartender included in package, just bring your own alcohol).

    -The Vintage Rose in Orange

    -Los Willows in Fallbrook

    -Paradise Falls in Oceanside

    -Temecula Creek Inn

-Wedgewood Weddings (bunch of venues, with costs varying between venues)

    Hope this helps! Good luck!

    Thank you very much!

To be honest, I thought I was able to get a good all-inclusive package, but ouch the ratio with price is pretty higher than what I've imagined. However, many of my recent brides also told me that even if I find a cheaper venue everything adds up because all vendors will have a cost to it and it may end up being the same anyways.

I have looked into a few of the vendors you've mentioned, but I haven't seen all of them, i will research into these more! Thank you very much for your feedback. I hope that me and my fiance can get a decent price without shedding an arm and a leg lol;! Thank you!

There are some asian venues such as diamond seafood that will do the centerpiece, wedding cake, some drinks, wedding security, etc for you. so that it's a lot there but of course things like dj and photography you would need yourself. i think there are many other asian OC venues that are like that

Daughter briefly looked at noninclusive/bring everything in venues, and her quick analysis was that it wasn't much (if at all) cheaper and it was SO much work and coordinating, plus most noninclusive venues around here REQUIRED having a "professional DOC" to coordinate everything, so that ate up "savings" of doing it yourself.... Daughter just didn't want to have to comparison shop for every chair, piece of silverware, napkin, etc. Everything adds up really fast, especially when you factor in delivery/set-up/pick-up fees. Most the venues she looked at (listed above in previous post) were semi-inclusive (e.g., all furnishings, tableware, food & beverage). A few included options with photographer, officiant, DJ, etc. Ultimately, she chose one that took care of all the ceremony & reception furnishings, set-up, F&B, had an excellent in-house event coordinator, provided a "bridal attendant" to follow her around all day and meet her every need, professional in-house waitstaff/bartenders/valets, etc., but found her own officiant, DJ (a venue referral though), photographer, florist, baker, etc. It was a good balance for her. She didn't have to worry about a bunch of stuff she didn't want to bother with, but was able to comparison shop for things that were important to her. Like I said, we were exactly at the predicted average cost. And the most noninclusive venue she really considered was the most expensive (Muckenthaler). It is enough to make your head spin. Just be really clear about your maximum budget, then research your available options thoroughly. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the thorough explanation. I is I’ll definitely speak with my fiancé to see where our budget is at and go from there so when I speak with venue assistants I can let them know where I’m standing. It really is helpful to me and I’m grateful for your time and response! Thank you for the luck!! It’ll be me pushing my fiancé to do things for me lol

What kind of venue are you looking for (aesthetic wise)? I really love my venue, the Heritage Museum of Orange County) and while it’s not an all inclusive, it’s been extremely easy to coordinate everything. The required caterer, Country Garden Caterers, will include all tables, chairs, silverware, etc. with their quote. Bonus: HMOC is having their annual bridal show this Sunday (1/19) from 11-3 where you can view the grounds and meet a bunch of vendors who have worked there before.

Also, regarding your budget, if you haven't yet, look up some wedding budget calculators. It's super helpful to have a clear idea how a total budget breaks down in terms of what you can reasonably allocate to specific categories. Most calculators will suggest that 50-60% of your total wedding costs will be associated with the reception (e.g., venue, F&B, furnishings, etc.). So, with a $35,000 budget, you're probably going to want to keep your reception-related costs under $20,000 (and don't forget, costs will include tax, service charge [typically 20%], and probably an expected tip on top of everything else). If your guest list is 150 people, that means your max per person cost for the reception, including tax/service charge is about $133 pp. That's important to know when you start looking at price lists. When you back out the tax/svc charge, you're down to about $95 pp for food, alcohol, linens, placesettings, furniture, etc.

If the totals start to freak you and FH out, the "easiest" way to cut costs is to reduce your guest list.... Wedding planning is not for the fainthearted! Good luck! Smiley heart

Right now I am not being too picky with the aesthetics of the venue, i'm just not particularly fond of too much dirt rather concrete and grass field would be best. I would like an indoor setting for the reception everything else can be outside for the most part. That sounds interesting, thank you for the idea! I'll look into it!!!

Oh man - thank you for that heads up. I've been looking and getting quotes from around the area and I saw that the service charges are pretty high up there around 15-22% for sure. Smiley sad that is a sad sure thing, I will try to see where else I can trim my guest list. Thank you for the tip!! Greatly appreciate it!!! Smiley heart
