Too many variables- where you go, when you go, what you do, etc.

We are going to Dublin in May. We are booking everything seperate. Tickets from LAX were 1500 non stop, hotels are about $130 per night. We are budgeting 1000 for food and admission to sites like guiness,and a couple castles.

Keep in mind, Ireland is separated and northern Ireland's currency is the pound and the rest is on the Euro so the exchange rate is different.

Oh we are going Monday to Sunday and will have plenty of time to relax because the whole country is the size of West virginia

Hey Julianna, congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I know you are getting excited! So you want to go to Ireland for your honeymoon? You have chosen a great destination in Ireland as there is so much to do there. So, I have a few suggestions for you.

First, I would definitely recommend finding a travel professional that you trust to create this complex itinerary for you. There are a lot of components that need to be considered so that you can make the most of your time while there and get the most for your money. I would definitely not try to DIY Ireland.

Second, you have chosen a great time to get married and to honeymoon in Ireland because September offers great weather and it is also less crowded. Ireland in September is slightly warmer and balmy, typical Irish weather. Of course, you should expect lower temperatures at night and lots of fog and some showers.

Thirdly, if you are adventurous, then I would highly suggest a self drive tour of Ireland that you can do at your leisure that is customized to where you really want to go and see the places that truly interest you instead of going on all the typical tourist group tours. A self-drive is definitely the way to go. For example, you could start in Dublin and then head south towards Waterford and spend the night in several B&Bs along the way. Then drive across to Cork, and then follow the coast through Killarney, Limerick, Galway and all the way up to Donegal, if time allows. For your last nights in Ireland you could stay in a castle to end your honeymoon. You could do this in a week but 10 days would be a better option and two weeks would be ideal.

I can give you and idea of the cost from Nashville for the month of August. I had a couple book a self-drive tour for 10 days with almost the same itinerary as I mentioned above including airfare, three B&Bs, one historic hotel and a castle their last nights, plus some meals and tour entry fees and travel insurance for $6979 per couple. So depending on where you are located or the gateway city you will be departing from will really determine the cost of your Ireland honeymoon.

I went for a couple of weeks about 9 years ago, geez I feel old. It's a small country but the roads are narrow and super twisty allow yourself extra travel time for driving from one place to the next, it'll take longer than you think

I went to Ireland last February. We got engaged in Galway. We spent far less than what the PP stated. We traveled between cities by rail and then booked day tours in each city. Each hotel was about $100 a night including full breakfast and the hotels were very nice. We stayed six nights and could have used more. We flew into Dublin, took train to Galway, rented car and drove to Killarney and then train back to Dublin. Tripadvisor helped us choose hotels. You can definitely plan on your own with a little research. We used Viator for the day tours.

Check with a travel agent or booking company like Costco or Expedia.

I don't know about honeymoons specifically, but my FH and I did a cruise country road to vacation there. We booked B&Bs in all different locations and rented a car and tracked around. It was amazing. One of our best vacations
