Adding Sleeves

I’m trying to find out how difficult adding a three quarter length sleeve to a gown would be for a seamstress that specializes in bridal alterations? I would be ordering a dress similar to the one shown and finding a seamstress to add a 3/4 sleeve to it that would be beading, pearls, or rhinestones on tulle similar to the example image (open to pattern/designs). I’m not open to the idea of a bolero or any other length of sleeve.


Has anyone added a 3/4 sleeve? It seems most people add long/cap/straps.

    I had short sleeves added to my dress. The seamstress used fabric and lace from the train and you would never know they were added. An experienced seamstress would be able to do this.
    Not sure if there’s extra fabric that can be used for yours. Perhaps take the fabric and add beading and pearls of your choice.

    I haven't ordered a dress yet. Even so, I don't think I want the same fabric (crepe) from the dress for the sleeves. I'd want tulle/illusion sleeves. So yes, I think any pearls or beading could work.

    Sometimes the weight of the sleeves can be an issue, but it seems that the dress style you showed would not have a problem.

    I would expect this to be doable with the style of dress. Would you also consider a lace or beaded topper that would go under the dress?

    I would consider a beaded topper (definitely not lace), but they are almost impossible to find. They are usually a capelet (no sleeves), whereas I want a half sleeve/quarter sleeve.
