a way not to spend an arm and leg on wedding invites

Marissa, on June 25, 2019 at 12:12 PM Posted in Planning 2 32
I am struggling trying to figure out how to not spend too much on invites but still have them be lovely. we have a dream one from minted but when you add rsvp cards and direction cards (for hotels/registry? or should we just put the wedding website and not use a direction card??) Anyone have advice for me? I want it to look lovely so if we have to spend a lot we will. but I would really like to save on this portion of the wedding we have spent a bit too much for everything else.

I haven't checked out Minted, but I've read nothing but great things about their invitations. I am getting mine through Ann's Bridal Bargains. They have a lot of the same styles available, but they have a lot of sales, and it makes them a really good price. Also, they will do all of your address printing, if you want. Check it out!

How many invites are you needing? I got my invites from ann's bargain bridal boutique online. I ordered 125 invites for $100. The invites are the ones that fold up and have the RSVP postcard at the bottom.

I bought a template on Etsy and had it printed on printrunner.com. Envelopes were from Cards and Pockets, belly bands were also from Etsy. Cost about $150 for all of it, including details and accommodations cards. On minted it would have been more like $300-500, and I didn’t like their designs as much. Vista print wouldn’t let me get the sizes I wanted, and at staples/Office Depot I would have had to cut them out myself because of the way my files were. I got my save the dates on Ann’s bridal bargains, but I didn’t use them for Invites because I wanted the matching details cards. Just some thoughts.

Wow i'm so impressed. I just don't feel like I would be able to do that in a proper time frame but I might consider it

I fell in love with invitations on minted too, but last minute I decided to try to do it cheaper. I found a template on Etsy, https://www.etsy.com/listing/622439939/merlot-burgundy-watercolor-suite?ref=yr_purchases and bought it for $30 for the RSVP card and Invitation. I looked at all of the online sites, and checked with the big box stores, and printing was still pretty expensive. However, I got the BEST tip from someone on this site, to find a local print shop and check with them. There is one near me called Atomic Printing, they mostly do business stuff and promotional items, and I went to ask for pricing. For 75 invites and 75 RSVP cards, on FANCY paper, it is $38!!!!!! I was so excited when I found this out.

They also will provide envelopes for $15, but they are white and I found some gorgeous ones on Amazon for the same price.

So total, with a rough estimate for envelopes, is around 85 bucks!!!

I happened to order mine from Shutterfly with a sale they had and a coupon for free shipping. Definitely shop around and see what you can get.
Vista print is reasonably priced if you want to get creative and do post cards for stuff like the STD

I got mine from Shutterfly, they have 50% off sales all the time so ours were very reasonably priced.

I would just put a link to your website instead of including all the details on cards. That would save you money and also prompt people to check the website. I am not sure how necessary a direction card is in general anyway because most people have GPS

We did the “all in one” invitations from minted that just fold up into itself with rsvp included. I downloaded a template from Etsy for the “details” card and then printed them on card stock myself. We got 25% off from minted which was a huge help and I think they run deals like that often from ehat I have seen. We bought thank you cards on amazon for about $15 for a big box of them too. Overall including save the dates, invites, rsvps, thank you s and postage for all, we spent $380 total

I used half page for invite and then the back of it flipped for directions. And then one small postcard RSVP. I printed everything on cardstock myself

I used Zazzle and got 135 invites for about $195 (including envelopes). We are doing online RSVP though so we saved on the RSVP cards.

Check Ann's Bridal Bargains! I got 200 invitations and RSVP post cards for only $147 after shipping! That was during a 30% off sale, but they have a 20% off sale going on right now. Their designs are beautiful!

I will say Minted is worth the price, I absolutely love have our invites turned out and we got tons of compliments! I tried looking for less expensive invites as well and they just didn’t compare to Minted’s. Are they too expensive for you even with the 10-15% off they offer?

I did something similar! I got my pockets and envelopes (pre-printing our address on the RSVP envelopes was only around $30 and WORTH IT!) on paperandmore.com and my invite design on paperandthingsco.com. The invite suite included RSVP and detail cards, so I had everything I needed. Also thank you cards for when that day comes! The whole suite was easily editable online, though I did make a few tweaks in a design program.

We had a single details card with some info and then a link to our website for online RSVPs (we did both online and mail options) and hotel info.

I printed on cardstock on my home printer, trimmed with my Cricut (you could just as easily use a paper trimmer - my fave is by Fiskars) and stuck on with double-sided craft tape. I got the vertical cascade pockets and was very pleased!

It wasn't hard and I got it done over a weekend with a bit of help and company!

Not a great pic and minus detail card, but you get the idea!

I also used Ann's Bridal Bargain. They had a beautiful invitation right RSVP card. I got hotel cards from the hotel for free. People really don't need direction cards honestly. Almost everyone just uses GPS on their phones.
