a La Carte Honeymoon, or Package?

Cathy, on October 30, 2019 at 6:09 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 4
My husband and I really want to go to Tahiti for our honeymoon, we were thinking in December or January. I would like to have the 'honeymoon experience' (full pampering at a resort, romantic dinners etc.) for a few days, but we would also like to rent a boat and sail. (He's a licensed boat captain, and we both have extensive boating and sailing experience). We don't need to do the "touristy activities," although I could find them if I need to.
My question: Is it better to go with a package deal that is all inclusive (and likely won't include the weird sailing part of what we both want) or is it better to go a la carte? We thought about Costco travel for just the hotel and activities, as the new-hubs has airline miles on the carrier that goes to Tahiti. I have no problem negotiating the bureaucracy there, as I speak fluent French.

Thoughts?

FH and I are going all-inclusive (location to be determined) because we want to be able to enjoy everything and not have to stress about money. Also, don't want to carry cash or worry about exchange rates! I don't see why you couldn't book the all-inclusive and at the end of that book a sailboat for a few days!

We are doing Mo'orea (the island next to Tahiti) because it's rated better than Tahiti in views, water, and hotels. I recommend looking in to it. We are doing a package because it books everything for you including ferry, transport to/from airport. I tried doing it myself and found that it was equal price wise, so why not let them handle the difficult stuff? They booked us upgraded flights for wayyyy cheaper, over water bungalows, ATV tours, jetski tours, snorkeling with rays and sharks, private dinner on the beach, and massages. Tahiti.com

I would say it's probably more cost efficient to book all inclusive then add your additional items. You may find deals on renting a boat or whatever else you want to do if you book the all inclusive. I highly recommend talking to a travel agent! They have access to deals you wouldn't and may be able to guide you in the right direction. Sounds like an amazing honeymoon though!!

    Hey Cathy!

I think that if you are looking forward to having the full pampered experience of staying in a tropical resort, then all-inclusive could be a really great option for you. Have you looked into any resorts that you would like to stay in?
