a few questions - thank you!

Hi Couples!

I have a few questions for those of you looking to lose weight for your wedding if you do not mind sharing!
1. If you were to name your two (2) biggest struggles with weight loss, what would they be?
2. What feelings come to mind when you think about these two struggles?
3. What do you think will solve these two struggles?
4. What would success look like for you?

Thank you! I will share my answers:
1. Struggle 1: feeling hungry when I diet / Struggle 2: binging on weekends
2. I feel nervous about not achieving my weight loss goal in time for my wedding
3. I think staying consistent will help and making sure I eat the right foods to not feel as hungry
4. Success would look like losing 10 pounds for my wedding day

I actually gained weight (and a lot of it – about 20lbs) between ordering my wedding dress and my wedding dress itself because in the time that passed, the pandemic started, I lost my job, we went into lockdown, the gyms were shut, and then we postponed. With that said, I refused to fall into the trap of expecting to lose weight for my wedding and I embraced my body for what it was and I felt beautiful on my wedding day even though I knew the scales read a number that I didn’t like – so in short, you will look gorgeous regardless of if you lose the weight or not.

Anyway, in answer to your questions:

    1) If I restrict my diet, I binge eat (I developed BED because of this) / I love to snack and find it hard to not snack when I am not in a controlled environment (i.e. at home or at work)

    2) Once upon a time I would have tried every trick under the book to counter my weight loss struggles but now I have accepted that the healthiest form of weight loss is to do it slowly, without cutting out foods you love, or the self-loathing or punishment, and that it is ok for it to be a slow process with some slip ups along the way

    3) Allowing myself to actually eat like a normal person and focus on goals such as improving my strength rather than strictly weight loss

    4) Loving my body regardless what the scales say
