4 months to early to send out invites?

Maddie, on October 31, 2021 at 4:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
So my wedding is in the end of February. I already have invitations stamped, addressed and ready to go. Is early November too early to send them out? I'm wondering if it's to early considering the holidays are coming up. But I think January is too late...thoughts?

The general rule of thumb is to send invitations 8-12 weeks ahead

I’d probably send them the week after Christmas. Less chance they get lost in the holiday craziness and still not too far out that your guests be unsure of their availability.

I sent out my mid January wedding invitations in mid October. Our RSVP date was Christmas which was just less than a month before the wedding.
So, I think November would be ok. If your wedding is at the end of Feb I’d probably wait until closer to thanksgiving though.

You send save the dates at 6-12 months and invites no earlier than 8 weeks. 6 weeks is standard. Even with the holidays, there’s no reason to send them earlier than 8 weeks max.

I would also agree with at least waiting until after Christmas. They'll have holiday cards starting to pile up and you don't want them to accidentally tuck it away with them when they clean up after the holidays.

I personally feel like that is a reasonable time to send it out now or this month because it gives people time to take off, make arrangements for travel, save up if need be, find babysitters, etc.

I honestly think before Christmas wouldn't be a bad idea. I sent mine out about 7 weeks in advance and some invites didn't arrive until a week and a half before our date, some got returned (despite being correctly addressed), and some never made it.
