Woo Hoo!!! 🎉🎉🎉 I finally found someone else who’s going to do what FH and I discussed…. renew our marital commitment every year with some sort of celebration.


We were originally a 2020 couple who postponed to 2021 (and went through many changes along the way). So, getting down the aisle has been a roller coaster. However, well before covid, this was already a plan we agreed on after we were engaged in January 2019.
Our wedding (which recently became an elopement) is taking place on October 31, 2021. So the date already makes for a perfect time to have annual parties. Since we’re eloping with no guests in attendance, we’re going to have a celebration for our 1st anniversary next year. Following that, my thought is to celebrate big (ceremony, venue, DJ, etc.) every 5th year. Then have our annual party at home the years in between.
This really isn’t out of the norm for us because (pre-covid), FH and I hosted at least 3 elaborate parties at our home/backyard each year. So it’s something we’re already known for doing.
This is a second marriage for both of us. So we understand the importance of constantly putting effort into the marriage. So, I don’t feel there’s anything cheesy about taking time to reaffirm and celebrate our commitment, because it’s very easy for relationships to quickly become complacent.

Very exciting! I am planning to do one for our 20th in 3 years but I like your idea of doing something every year too. It's very romantic so it sounds like the Romance weekend is a great place to start Glad you have your son back by the way and that it is all ok now .
