Hi all!
Our wedding is in Puerto Rico on 2.20.20! January and February have been very difficult so I’m hoping I can get some positive vibes here!
Puerto Rico has had many earthquakes but our venue is safe. I pray for Puerto Rico - they have not had it easy! Glad we’ll be bringing tourism to them. I have gotten so many messages about our wedding and if it’s safe. I’ve made everyone feel at ease but it’s SO overwhelming for me.
We’ve had to chase people to see if they’re coming. My fiancé is Puerto Rican, many of his family members RSVPed yes but didn’t book anything so we weren’t sure if we should include them in the count. After them not booking and not responding we didn’t include them. I’m just confused because we sent save the dates AND invitations. We’re all adults and just needed a final answer since the RSVP meant nothing. Good thing we did follow up because if we went by RSVPs we would’ve had to pay for 20 additional people. With all of my stress and working with kids I ended up getting the flu and laryngitis 2 weeks ago. My immune system is usually so strong! On a positive note, it has passed and now I have a cough that won’t seem to go away.
My fiancé’s cousin RSVPed no but is in Puerto Rico right now. My fiancé is so upset because many of his family members aren’t coming meanwhile he has his cousin in Puerto Rico the weekend before our wedding. I messaged her and said “too bad you couldn’t come next week instead” and she replied “it was a last minute trip and you guys want less people.“ ????? I’m confused because we invited her entire family including her kids! All NY has off the week of our wedding. Her posts in PR a week before our wedding are a smack in the face and she’s blaming us for wanting less people! I’m angry for my fiancé, her presence wouldn’t have made a difference for me.
I’ll stop now because I’m really trying to be positive since we’re leaving next weekend. I’d love some positivity to help calm me down. If anyone has any kind words to share, I’d greatly appreciate it!
